HOT Opera Express presents Hansel and Gretel Live at Hawaii Theatre

The award-winning Hawaii Opera Theatre (HOT) Opera Express returns to the historic Hawaii Theatre on Nov. 2, 2016, when it stages this year’s Opera Express production of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel.

Each year HOT Education serves over 25,000 students across the islands with its Opera Education programs. Opera Express produces a keiki friendly opera designed to take “on tour” to schools, libraries, and performance venues around the state. This show provides a wonderful opportunity for students to experience music, drama, & the arts live, while also enhancing curriculum with themes that are relevant to social studies, language arts, math and more. While Opera Express has been recommended for grade levels Kindergarten through 8th Grade and family audiences, it has also been well received by middle and high school audiences. This past year’s tour of Mozart’s The Magic Flute was performed over 70 times, including a special appearance at Hawaii Public Radio’s Atherton Studio and annual performances at Hawaii Theatre.

Upcoming performances at the Hawaii Theatre will include a run exclusive to schools and a 7:00pm evening performance open to the public on November 2. Tickets for the public performance of Hansel and Gretel can be purchased at the Hawaii Theatre Box Office.
