SOLD OUT – Service Provider: A Modern, One-Act Opera

Not all opera is a six-hour ordeal with a woman beating on a breastplate. Opera can also be short and in English. It can deal with modern-day problems and even, God forbid, be funny.” – Washington Post

HOT invites you to a unique opportunity to ‘plug in’ to Christopher Weiss and John de los Santos’ new one-act opera called Service Provider! The 20-minute opera is about a couple who gets into a fight at a restaurant over being glued to their phones. The performance will feature singers Naomi Castro, Rivers Hawkins, Kari Magaruh, and Logan Webber.

This musical ‘selfie’ of a modern relationship will be accompanied by other songs and arias on the subject of technology, sung by HOT Orvis Opera Studio singers Leslie Goldman, Blythe Kelsey, and Jeremy Wong.

HOT’s presentation of Service Provider and other songs will take place at Kouwork, located at 814 Ilaniwai St, Honolulu, HI, 96813. Doors will open at 6:30pm with performances to follow.
