Singer Training

Hawaii Opera Theatre Young Voices Students Performing a Hip Hop Dance Routine

Our training program provides local singers with opportunities to further hone their performance skills. Studio members frequently appear in the company’s varied programming.

Mae Z. Orvis Opera Studio

The Mae Z. Orvis Opera Studio of Hawai’i Opera Theatre was dedicated in 1998 to Mae Zenke, a gifted singer of opera who married businessman Arthur Orvis. The two loved the arts very much and were great supporters of the arts in Hawaiʻi. Their legacy of generosity lives on through the Arthur and Mae Orvis Foundation, which provides the funding for this program.

The goal of this opera studio is to provide training and performance experiences that include classes and seminars in movement, musical style, language, repertoire coaching and master classes.

The guest artists and master teachers are some of the finest in the United States and Europe, and are working professionals in the field of opera. This program does not provide vocal instruction to its members, and none of its activities are intended to do so.
