This season, we return to the Blaisdell Concert Hall for two fully staged productions.
In February, we present Rossini’s comic masterpiece, The Italian Girl in Algiers, in an English adaptation that moves the story to Mars for operatic hijinks that will leave audiences of all ages in stitches. Our General Director & CEO, Andrew Morgan, is thrilled to be making his HOT directorial debut with this production, which was originally slated for February 2025.
Our mainstage season culminates with the world premiere of Kamalehua: The Sheltering Tree, our first-ever original commission, starring international opera star, Quinn Kelsey.
The opera, by Hawaiian composer Herb Mahelona and Hawaiian Samoan librettist Victoria Nālani Kneubuhl, tells the true story of Timoteo Kamalehua Haʻalilio’s 1840’s mission to secure recognition of Hawaiʻi as a sovereign nation.
