The Mae Z. Orvis Opera Studio is now in its 26th year of providing training and performance opportunities to local singers through performance classes, masterclasses, and individual coaching. During monthly meetings, participants develop their vocal mastery, artistic repertoire and musical styles, language facility, audition skills, and business acumen. Auditions, classes, and one-on-one coaching sessions are led by HOT staff and guest clinicians. Throughout the year artists hone their skills, explore repertoire, and gain performance experience including participating in HOT’s Opera for Everyone, Opera Residencies, and Studio 101.
Our mission is to provide Hawai'i's singers with the unique opportunity to explore the world of solo voice performance. With group workshops, masterclasses, one-on-one sessions, as well as performance & critiquing opportunities, singers grow as artists, make contacts, and improve themselves as performers.

The program is offered at no cost through a generous grant from the Arthur and Mae Orvis Foundation.

Audition info:
Applicants must come prepared with 2-3 songs in varying styles and sheet music for the accompanist. Opera arias, art songs, classical style musical theatre, sacred music, and folk songs are acceptable.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your alotted time.
