Jill Gardner joins the cast of Donizetti’s Daughter of the Regiment

HOT announces surprise guest as the Duchess of Crackentorp in Donizetti’s comedy, Daughter of the RegimentSoprano Jill Gardner.

“The Southern Songbird” joins a long list of guest stars to play the non-singing role of the Duchess, including US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who performed for one night with Washington National Opera in its 2016 production of the opera.

Ms. Gardner last graced the stage in Honolulu with HOT in this past season’s production of Andre Previn’s A Streetcar Named Desire giving a performance that was described by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser as “powerful and finely nuanced.”  She performed as the infamous Blanche Dubois, a challenging role requiring a unique balance of singing and acting.

Ms. Gardner joins a star-studded cast headlined by Audrey Luna as Marie, who recently set the record for highest note ever sung at The Metropolitan Opera in New York and includes her husband, Bass-Baritone Jake Gardner, as Sulpice.
