Congratulations to Soprano Audrey Luna, a featured Soloist on Adès: The Tempest, which was awarded Best Opera Recording at last night’s Grammy Awards!
Audrey has appeared with HOT in Romeo & Juliet (2008) and Abduction from the Seraglio (2009).
The HOT Education & Outreach Team works hard year-round to share our award-winning Opera Education Programs to people across the islands! This past week the Team took The Mikado Tour to the island of Kauai as a part of the Opera Express.
All of this is made possible through HOT’s fundraising efforts that includes generous supports from our HOT Members, Foundations, and Grants awarded to the organization.

Sylvia McNair has left the islands but the memories of her visit to HOT live on!
While in Hawaii, Sylvia gave a phenomenal performance her show, Subject to Change, a musical autobiography, at the Hawaii Theatre, and she taught a series of Masterclasses to Members of HOT’s Orvis Opera Studio and Students from the University of Hawaii’s Music Department.
Here are the highlights from her final night of Masterclasses at the Orvis Auditorium. All of this was made possible via the generous support from the Arthur and Mae Z. Orvis Foundation.

Formally known as Opera Express, our Team develops a family friendly Opera and takes it to the schools in communities around the State. The first leg of the tour took place in 2013 at schools on Oahu and culminated grandly on stage at the Hawaii Theatre!

Sylvia McNair will be working with students from the UH Manoa Music Department and members of the Mae Z. Orvis Opera Studio of Hawaii Opera Theatre. These classes are free and open to the public.
