Chef Mavro Opera Dinners

Watch for news about these fabulous dining experiences centering about Grand Opera Season in Hawaii!  George Mavrothalassitis is chef/proprietor of Chef Mavro restaurant at King & McCully in Honolulu and a founding member of Hawaii Regional Cuisine.  He holds the prestigious James Beard Award which is the "Oscars" of the culinary arts in America.  In his 20 years in Hawaii, Mavro has consistently partnered with local farmers to offer menus dedicated to regional products from baby greens and tomatoes to vanilla and lavender.  "Sometimes buying local means the cost is higher and sometimes it takes more time but the reward is huge. Local farmers succeed and my guests enjoy fresh, regional ingredients and a dining experience they could have only in Hawaii," explains Mavrothalassitis. 

The family-owned restaurant opened in 1998 and has consistently earned top awards including the only 18/20 rating in Hawaii by the prestigious Gayot guide and the "Top 10 Restaurants in the World" based on a vote of the editors and writers of Fodor's.  Chef Mavro restaurant is famous for food & wine pairings as every menu selection is proposed with a glass of wine.
