Henry G. Akina

He is HOT’s first General and Artistic Director of Hawaiian descent. A graduate of Punahou School and Tufts University, he saw his first opera in Hawaii as a youngster, not much older than the company itself! He has directed in China, Finland, across the U.S. and throughout Europe. He has debuted more operas for the HOT stage than any other director in the company’s 50 year history.
